John McVan, a brakeman on the Nypano, while coupling freight cars at the Union Depot Thursday afternoon, was struck by the connecting bar of one of the cars.  He was picked up and taken to the depot apparently uninjured.  In about half an hour afterwards, however, he expired from some internal injury.  He was single and aged about 30.  His remains were forwarded to friends at Marietta, Ohio, on Friday.
